Newly Revealed DSK Testimony Tells His Side of Banon's Story

A day after French prosecutors dropped their case against former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn alleging that he'd attempted to rape writer Tristane Banon, French daily Le Monde has published excerpts from his testimony, and though he only proves himself guilty of being a creep, his account -- predictably -- differs from his accuser's.  According to Le Monde, DSK told authorities:

I tried to take her in my arms. I tried to kiss her on the mouth. She firmly pushed me back. She said, in effect, "Not okay?" I immediately released my grip, she gathered her things, and she left the room furiously.*

Compare that with the account Banon gave the magazine L'Express earlier this year:

I do not speak the sordid details of his fingers in my mouth, his hands in my pants after undoing my jeans and bra, under my black turtleneck ... He stopped the dictaphone, grabbed my hand and arm, I asked him to let me go, and that was the fight part. He pulled me toward him, we came down, and we fought on the ground for several minutes ... When I realized he really wanted to rape me, I started to give him a kick with my boots, I was terrified and I told him: "You're not going to rape me?" And then I managed to free myself, I ran downstairs, I found myself in my car, I called my mother because I could not even drive, I was shaking so much.

Banon has said that if prosecutors dropped the case, she would pursue her complaint in civil court.

*Pardon our translation. For you francophones:
