A new report that the British tabloid News of the World hired a private eye to spy on the lawyers of phone-hacking victims just got a bit Darker (yes, with a capital D!).

It turns out that that detective, David Webb, was also "paid to follow more than 100 targets" over eight years -- including (brace yourself) the family of Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, according to a dossier provided to the BBC News. So, basically, News of the World hired its very own Rita Skeeter to spy on the goings-on of the Wizarding World. Good job, News Corp., for breaking the hearts of children (and some now-adult bloggers) worldwide.

Radcliffe, who is now singing and dancing his way even deeper into the hearts of audiences with his starring role in Broadway's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, apparently wasn't the only one of our favorite British celebrities under the Murdoch hex. "The private detective said that 90% of his targets were celebrities or politicians," BBC reports. They include Prince William and Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy.
