France and Britain Reportedly Considering Pulling Ambassadors from Israel
Perhaps President Obama and French President Nicholas Sarkozy have a burn book as well. Unaware that their words were being picked up by a live microphone during last week's G20 Summit in Cannes, the world leaders were caught in the act of exchanging some not-so-nice words about Cady Heron Israeli Prime Minister Banjamin Netanyahu.
"I cannot bear Netanyahu, he's a liar," Sarkozy told Obama in a report confirmed by Reuters.
"You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you," Obama replied.
Apparently, the conversation started with Obama chiding Sarkozy for France's UNESCO vote in favor of Palestinian membership, ABC confirms.
The hot-mic slip-up brings to mind George Bush, who, in a Mean Girls moment of his own, told Tony Blair to "... get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit." The little moment of Sarkozy-Obama smack talk mirrors the regret-worthiness of President Reagan's bombing joke and John McCain's bomb-bomb-bomb-Iran attempt at humor.
This is not Obama's only hot-mic gaffe this year. He laid into one-time budget savior Paul Ryan in April, unaware that the outside world was able to listen in. We know what happened to Ryan and his budget plan shortly thereafter.
