At least six are dead, and 28 injured after a bus carrying the Togolese soccer club L’Etoile Filante crashed into a ravine. The team had been traveling to Sokode, the country's second largest city for tomorrow's game against Semassi Sokode.

The bus crashed near the city of Atakpame, when a tire burst causing it to crash into the ravine and catch fire. “We do not know how we managed to get out of the accident,” said goalkeeper Mama Souleyman, one of the survivors.

In a televised statement, it was announced that Togo President Faure Gnassingbe had ordered for the injured be treated at the military wing of the Lome Central Hospital, some 100 miles south of the accident site.

The tragedy is the second to strike Togo soccer in as many years. Last year three were killed (including two national team officials), and several injured, after the team bus was fired upon on its way to the African Cup of Nations tournament in Angola
