What better way to understand the major news stories of 2011 than with a kid's toy. The Guardian this morning gathered together a series of Lego portraits of this past year's big happenings. Check out Obama's hair in the Lego take on the Situation Room photo of the Osama bin Laden raid! We're guessing there isn't a good Lego part to represent our president's 'do. Here are some of the best others:

A Lego Occupy Wall Street

One Lego protester's sign wonderfully reads "Occupy Lego Land" with another's demanding a "Plastic Standard."

A Lego pepper-spraying

This takes the meme to a whole new level.

A Lego royal wedding

And a Lego Libyan uprising
