The president of the World Bank announced on Wednesday that he would leave his post June 30, as rumors swirl that the White House had pressured him to leave. Robert B. Zoellick didn't give a reason for his departure in the press release announcing his plans to leave, which just hit the World Bank's website. But Foreign Policy's David Bosco reports that rumors inside the World Bank have it the White House pressured Zoellick to leave. Bosco quotes the source: "Rumors are running wild that RBZ [Robert Zoellick] was told earlier this week by the White House that they would like to see him go.  RBZ has called on short notice a meeting with the Board for this morning - which is very unusual.  So people are putting two and two together."
