Rebekah Brooks, the former CEO of News International has been arrested for a second time in the ongoing probe into corruption at Rupert Murdoch's British papers, along with her husband and four others. Unlike in July, when Brooks reported to police voluntarily, this time cops arrested Brooks and her former racehorse trainer husband at their home in Oxfordshire. Brooks and her husband face charges of "conspiring to pervert the course of justice," a crime the Wall Street Journal reports is "roughly equivalent to obstruction of justice in the U.S." The Journal, like News of the World and the Sun, where Brooks used to work, is owned by Murdoch's News Corporation.

The last time Brooks was arrested, she faced charges of conspiring to intercept communications -- related to phone hacking at the News. The police haven't said exactly what led them to arrest the Brookses this time around, but it's worth remembering that Rebekah and her husband were recently in the news together for their adoption of a retired Scotland Yard horse, which many saw as a signal that News Corp.'s UK management was too close with police.
