John Hudson gave us some perspective on the Egyptian military takeover today, which some people are calling the Death of the Arab Spring. In simple terms: It's not a good day for democracy in Egypt. Which inspired commenter RomanCandle to offer this bleak assessment: 

If you look at history, most revolutions and uprisings end up like this. We Americans always forget this, because our revolution was an exception.

Anyone who really thought the Arab Spring would end up in liberal democracy was terribly naive.

Well that's a terribly fatalistic way to look at the Arab Spring. For the sake of Egyptians and other citizens wanting to see democracy in their lifetimes, we hope it's wrong.
