London's Olympic Security Sounds Like a Nightmare Waiting to Happen
The day's only major event saw the U.S. Men's basketball team claim their rightful place at the top of the mountain. Led by Kevin Durant and Lebron James in the fourth quarter, they were able to overcome a feisty Spanish team that kept it close and gave them fits all four quarters. The final score was 107-100 for the U.S. Lebron is now the third basketball player ever to win an Olympic gold medal and an N.B.A. title in the same year. The other two are Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. So, like, no one we've ever head of. They must have been role players. [ESPN]
The final medal tally: America came out on top because U.S.A! U.S.A!, etc. [Medal Count]
The Closing Ceremonies are happening! Like, right now.
This is what we can figure out from the pictures available to us. They're much more informal than the Opening Ceremonies, and take about half as long.
