Americans and Italians Seem to Agree on Berlusconi's Sex Record
A day after being sentenced to four years in prison for tax fraud, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is warning his People of Freedom party might withdraw their for current Prime Minister Mario Monti.
Berlusconi gave his first press conference since resigning from office on Saturday, and he had some strong words for Monti. "We have to recognize the fact that the initiative of this government is a continuation of a spiral of recession for our economy," Berlusconi said. He threatened his centre-right People of Freedom party would be discussing withdrawing their support for Monti and forcing Italians to go to the polls early when they meet over the nest few days. Berlusconi already promised he wouldn't run for reelection on Friday when his four year sentence for tax fraud was handed down.
Oh, and about that four year prison sentence. It was later reduced to one year because of an amnesty law that reduces certain charges because Italy's jails are already overcrowded. And the case is still open to an appeal.
