Police have arrested six men after a woman riding a bus in India was gang raped Friday evening, less than a month since the death of an Indian woman who was gang raped and brutally beaten while riding a bus sparked protests and calls from reformed rape laws.

According to multiple reports, a 29-year-old woman was riding the bus home to her village Friday evening in the northern Punjab state when the driver and conductor refused to come to a stop. Instead, they took her to a remote area outside of her town, met up with five other men, and took turns raping her for the rest of the evening. They dropped her off in her village in the morning when she immediately went to authorities. Six men have been arrested, and there's currently a man hunt for the seventh. All arrested have admitted their involvement in the rape.

This attack is similar in many ways to the other gang rape case. Both took place on a bus, and both took place in northern India. The northern India has the highest number of reported rapes in the whole country.

In the other gang rape case, a 23-year-old woman and her male companion were brutally beaten on a bus in New Dehli. The girl was raped and eventually died of her injuries. The country was left in a state of shock. Protestors clashed with police while calling for tougher laws on rape suspects. What action the police will take with these latest perpetrators remains to be seen, but prosecutors in the case of the New Dehli gang rape are pursuing the death penalty

The extent of the latest victims injuries isn't currently known.
