Tom Hanks has been savoring some positive press around the premier of his HBO miniseries Pacific. Time magazine put him on the cover this week, and the Washington Post ran clips of a speech he gave to veterans at the World War II memorial.
Clearly, someone had to take the beloved actor down a notch. Enter Bill
O'Reilly. After admitting he was a "fan" of Hanks, he tore into the
actor for comparing WWII to the War on Terror. "Mr. Hanks has gone off
the rails," O'Reilly said.

He's out promoting a World War II miniseries on HBO, but will not appear on the FOX News Channel, which is incredibly dumb since our core audience would watch a film like that. Instead, Mr. Hanks goes on the left wing networks, which very few people watch and there he mocks FOX News.
Okay, fine, no problem. But now he's telling "TIME" magazine, "Back in World War II, we viewed the Japanese as `yellow, slant-eyed dogs' that believed in different gods. They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different. Does that sound familiar, by any chance, to what's
going on today?"
Mr. Hanks, obviously, referring to the Muslim jihad. Another very dumb deal. And my father was a naval officer during the occupation of Japan. He respected the Japanese people for their discipline and cooperation after the surrender. He didn't care about their religion. He didn't care what they looked like. He fought in World War II because the Japanese attacked the United States, much like al Qaeda did. So you can see that Mr. Hanks needs a history lesson.
