Strange Bedfellows

Jesus as Tea Partier

Heather Horn 79 Views Jul 1, 2010
For those who, for some reason, hoped one day to see right-wing rhetoric, speech bubbles, and Biblical scenes combined into a fearsome satirical cocktail, your time has come. For those who take offense at religious jokes, you might want to avert your eyes. Tea Party Jesus is a blog that puts "the words of Christians in the mouth of Christ," as the blog's tagline goes. The "words" are quotes from conservatives such as Ann Coulter, who has Jesus saying "I think the government should be spying on all Arabs." There's also a slightly Lord-of-the-Rings-looking picture of Jesus in a white robe leaning up against a fir tree. "You know," he says thoughtfully,
if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness, what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out.
That one's from Republican Senate nominee from Nevada, Sharron Angle.

Following on the same brilliant or blasphemous track, there's one of the Messiah with a small child on his lap, explaining (through the words of Rep. Louie Gohmert) how terrorists plan to exploit birthright citizenship: "'Cause they figured out how stupid we are being in this country." You get the idea.
