Glenn Beck: I Shouldn't Have Called Obama 'Racist'

Perhaps Glenn Beck got caught up in the fervor of the relatively high-toned rally he held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Only a day after the undeniably large event, the famously compulsive host told Fox New's Chris Wallace, "I have a big fat mouth sometimes, and I say things" in response to a question about an infamous 2009 statement in which he called the president a "racist."

Beck regretted the statement, but insisted it was not a retraction. Politico's Glenn Thrush extracted the key quotes:

It shouldn't have been said; it was poorly said; I have a big fat mouth sometimes, and I say things ... and that's not the way people should behave, and it was not accurate.

I don't want to retract -- I want to amend. I think it's much more of a theological question. ... Read his own books, he writes about the white culture and how he struggled with it, etc., etc. I didn't understand really his theological viewpoints come from Liberation Theology; that's what I think at the gut level I was sensing, and I miscast it as racism.
