In a remarkable transformation, the Connecticut woman who was mauled by a chimpanzee has a new face and revealed it on the Today Show this morning. Two years ago, Charla Nash's hands and nose were torn off by a chimpanzee and she became a national phenomenon when she showed her scarred face on an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show. Since then, she has undergone double-hand and face transplants and revealed the results on television this morning. "I will now be able to do things I once took for granted," she said in a statement. "I will be able to smell. I will be able to eat normally. I will no longer be disfigured." According to the New York Daily News the 57-year-old "underwent a radical 20-hour surgery in May to give her a new face and replace her hands." Nash's story was also masterfully chronicled in a feature piece by New York magazine.  Here's the video.
