Nafissatou Diallo filed a civil lawsuit against former International Monetary Fund head Dominique Strauss-Kahn Monday, Reuters' Joseph Ax reports. The suit, which does not specify damages, accuses Strauss-Kahn of a "violent and sadistic attack," and repeats the version of events Diallo has maintained since she made her name and face public last month. Strauss-Kahn was arrested in May for allegedly forcing Diallo to perform oral sex on him when she entered his New York hotel room to clean it. The complaint, filed in the Bronx where Diallo lives, reads in part:
Believing he was immune from the laws of this country, defendant Strauss-Kahn intentionally, brutally and violently sexually assaulted Ms. Diallo and in the process humiliated, degraded, violated and robbed Ms. Diallo of her dignity as a woman.
She also accuses the former IMF chief of causing her "severe mental anguish and emotional distress from which she may never fully recover," WABC reports, adding that the complaint is "detailed and graphic" in describing what she says happened in the hotel room.
Strauss-Kahn is set to next appear in court August 23. Prosecutors haven't decided whether to go forward with the criminal case against him.
