The Makers of the 'Atlas Shrugged' DVD Should Probably Reread the Book

Atlas Productions LLC is recalling over 100,000 covers for its DVD version of 'Atlas Shrugged' because it mistakenly describes the work, saying "AYN RAND's timeless novel of courage and self-sacrifice comes to life..." As anyone who has read the book can tell you, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged is not about self-sacrifice so much as it's a defense of self-interest. In fact, the novel is penned by a woman who once wrote, "The world is perishing from an orgy of self-sacrificing." A post on a blog devoted to the movie's release quotes Scott DeSapio, Atlas Productions' COO and Communications Director, who admits, "You can imagine how mortified we all were when we saw the DVD but, it was simply too late - the product was already on shelves all over the country. It was certainly no surprise when the incredulous emails ensued. The irony is inescapable." In case you missed it, the film 'Atlas Shrugged: Part I' enjoyed a very small release in April of this year. We imagine they won't make that mistake on the DVD cover of Part II.
