New York Post's Unnamed Sources Know a Lot about Greg Kelly's Accuser

Thanks to a plethora of unnamed sourcesThe New York Post has determined that the case against Greg Kelly is getting murkier. Kelly, the son of NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly and the co-host of Good Day New York, was accused of raping a woman in her office, with a subsequent report that he allegedly impregnated his accuser. It's been the subject of national news, but it's The New York Post that's taking the case head-on. "The woman who claims she was raped by the TV-anchor son of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was so forthcoming in her sit-downs with investigators that they believe the sex was consensual," unnamed sources told The Post. “This is such a common kind of situation, a delayed report driven by a boyfriend or husband after finding out what happened,” another source speculated.

The Post also followed up on a previous story it had about text messages Kelly and his accuser exchanged. "The texts sounded like she enjoyed her time with him and was asking if they would meet up again...She has been forthright with the investigation and showed texts that have her not acting like a rape victim,” said another source, leading the paper to conclude Kelly's accuser is "the defense’s best witness."

It should come as no surprise that these sources with such intimate knowledge of the investigation wish to remained unnamed, especially when reeling off insensitive lines like "not acting like a rape victim." But if the coverage and reliability on unnamed sources seems a bit ... familiar, it's because the stream of unnamed sources certainly brings to mind The Post's coverage of another high-profile New York City rape allegation--the DSK rape case. "Her credibility is so bad now, we know we cannot sustain a case with her," a Post source, who was very familiar with the investigation said then. Hmm, sounds familiar. With today's Post coverage and the appearance of similarly unnamed sources, you can imagine that exact quote being unfairly applied to Kelly's accuser.
