NBC News has fired one of its producers for editing a tape of George Zimmerman's 911 call that made it seem misleading, The New York Times' Brian Stelter reports. The audio that aired on the Today Show cut out an entire portion of the conversation between Zimmerman and the 911 dispatcher. The audio segment had Zimmerman saying, "This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black." In the unedited tape, the dispatcher asks Zimmerman about the race of the man before Zimmerman says, "He looks black." The changes to the audio weren't caught during the editing process, and aired during a segment on March 27. NBC apologized to the public earlier this week, before news of the firing broke.
