Nearly 900 high school seniors got an email this weekend congratulating them on their admission into UCLA, even though they were actually still on the waiting list. According to The Los Angeles Times, the mistake was made by the financial aid office, which sent out notices about provisional aid for the fall semester to both accepted students and those on the waiting lists. However, the letter to waiting list students was exactly the same as the one to admitted students, including the line, "Once again congratulations on your admission to UCLA." So on Monday, the school had to send another email to 894 kids telling them about the whoopsie. UCLA admits about 25% of all its applicants and according to the student newspaper The Daily Bruin, this is the first year UCLA has even used a wait list after over-enrolling its freshman class year.
