The big news out of the George Zimmerman trial today is that the defendant has officially pleaded "not guilty," and no, you're not crazy if you think that news sounds familiar.
Zimmerman's lawyer announced he would plead not guilty the day after his arrest a few weeks ago. But today, the paperwork has been posted online, showing that his lawyer "quietly" filed the plea, taking advantage of rules that allow Zimmerman not to appear in court. Thus, the news of the plea everyone already knew was coming is "official," and can officially be reported anew. (It's a tell-tale sign when headlines lead with "It's official" that this is news that should surprise exactly no one.) Such is the extent of coverage you can expect for every development in a very high profile trial.
