Mitt Romney isn't expected to land in Britain until Wednesday morning, but he'll have plenty to talk about once he gets there. A campaign advisor told the U.K.'s Telegraph Romney has a special bond with Englanders because of "an Anglo-Saxon heritage."

Warning their readers the adviser's comments "may prompt accusations of racial insensitivity," the Telegraph doesn't tell you who, exactly, is responsible for the comments. They are credited to an unnamed adviser. Here's the remark in full:

“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special,” the adviser said of Mr Romney, adding: “The White House didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have”.

The quote came immediately after a warning of racial insensitivity, and the Telegraph pointing out Obama's father is from Kenya. This... isn't good. As New York's Daily Intel noted, this could be, but really isn't, about Romney's lineage

Anything that "may prompt accusations of racial insensitivity," is poorly thought out and poorly timed, but this is coming at an especially bad time. Romney's scheduled to be interviewed by Brian Williams on Wednesday night, and he's about to start his big foreign policy push overseas. This advisor probably won't be around for much longer, either. Wednesday should be fun.

Update: Romney's spokeswoman Andrea Saul tells CBS News, "It's not true. If anyone said that, they weren't reflecting the views of Governor Romney or anyone inside the campaign."
