In an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity last night, George Zimmerman apologized to Trayvon Martin's family, but also says he doesn't regret anything he did on the night of their deadly encounter. Zimmerman laid out in full detail his version of events from the night of February 26, reiterating his claim that he acted in self-defense after Martin attacked him. Zimmerman also says he had never heard of Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law before that night, and that he was unaware that he had killed Martin with a gunshot until hours later.

At one point, Zimmerman offered a lengthy apology to the Martin family saying, "I am sorry that they buried their child. I can’t imagine what it must feel like. I pray for them daily." However, when asked whether he regretted getting out his car to follow Trayvon Martin while on his neighborhood watch patrol, or whether he regretted having his gun on him, Zimmerman said no

Then in what will likely turn out to be the most controversial statement of the night, Zimmerman said that "I feel that it was all God's plan" and he doesn't want to second guess or judge what happened that night. Martin's father responded in a statement by saying, "We must worship a different God, because there’s no way my God would have wanted George Zimmerman to kill my son.”
