Sad news for politically-active Hall and Oates fans: The Hall and Oates Fans for America Super PAC is no more, Rolling Stone's Andy Greene writes. Daryl Hall and John Oates asked the Super PAC's founder Billy Hansmann to get rid of the group, according to a statement from the band's manager first reported by Philly.com. Apparently they felt weird about having their names on a political group raising money—even if the group was mostly just for for fun and no money was expected, as Hansmann told The Atlantic Wire

"Daryl Hall and John Oates recognize that the personal view points of their fans cross all political spectrums and are honored to be supported by their fans everywhere regardless of political affiliation," the band's statement reads. "The PAC’s founders recognize that the use of the 'Hall' and 'Oates' names for the purpose of raising funds is not an appropriate fan activity no matter what the goal of the fund raising activities might be."

Reached by The Atlantic Wire, Hansmann said  he understood why his Super PAC had to end, but that he and his partners already formed plans for parody videos based on Hall and Oates' songs. "It's unfortunate," he said. "At the same time, it's probably how it was going to end."

Of course, it's not over for Hansmann and friends. Look out for their next Super PAC, which he says still won't be about money. It will be called The Anti-Pac Super PAC, or PACs Are Corrupt... Or something like that. "Filing the PAC paperwork is just a statement," he said. "We weren't really interested in pursuing a legitimate PAC."
