A Scorching Southern California Wildfire, in Extremely Dramatic Photos
That's the scene from Lake County, California where two wildfires have combined to stretch over 6,000 acres or rather, have burned nearly eight square miles of California land. The good news, if there can be any to accompanying that scary photo and news that the fires are reportedly threatening almost 500 homes, is that the fire (firefighters are treating the fires as one) is about 25 percent contained and heading east--away from homes and property, according to ABC News' Amy Hollyfield. And residents who were evacuated have been allowed to return home last night.
Lake County is north of San Francisco, and investigators are still trying to figure out how the blaze started.
