Do you remember the anarchy that took over the streets of Los Angeles last summer when they closed down a stretch of the 405 and the whole city was upended into complete and uncontrollable chaos? Okay, it wasn't that bad. But it's going to happen again. 

The Los Angeles Times reports the 405 is closing again for a 53-hour stretch at the end of the month. Beginning at 7 p.m. on September 28, a 10-mile stretch of the 405 will be closed until early in the morning on October 1 so crews can do more work adding a carpool lane to a certain stretch of the highway. The specific adjustments they're making: 

During the partial closures, workers will remove the supporting wood structures from the newly built south side of the bridge and will adjust Mulholland Drive's alignment and elevation to meet the bridge's new approaches, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the California Department of Transportation said.

During last summer's original Carmageddon there were fears the city would end up in mass gridlock and traffic delays would plague the city. That didn't happen.  It was positively tranquil. People mostly avoided going out that weekend, opting to stay inside and watch TV or read in the comfort of their air conditioning. But they're coming back strong this year with an increased special effects budget, a new director and new edgy and "in your face" characters. It'll be so much better this time, we swear.
