The Cannibal Cop's Conspirator, or 'Mentor,' Was No Cannibal
Prosecutors in the case of Gilberto Valle—the NYPD cop who was allegedly planning to cook and eat a woman—have one goal until the trial begins: make sure he stays behind bars and is denied bail. In order to convince a judge to deny Valle his third request in court Tuesday, prosecutors revealed that Valle had been planning way in advance for a Thanksgiving meal of "girl meat." Which is disgusting. Apparently federal prosecutor Hadassa Waxman read aloud a transcript from a February 9 Internet chat that Valle had participated in that went something like this (via The New York Post):
Valle: "I’m planning on getting some girl meat."
Alleged co-conspirator: “Really? Tell me more.”
Valle: “This November, for Thanksgiving. It’s a long way off, but I’m getting the plan in motion now. She’s not a volunteer. She has to be abducted. I know where she lives. I will grab her from her house.”
That's a pretty messed-up exchange, and from the first few lines it reads like Valle could have been disgusting in a sexual way. But, whoa, it's not. And mind you, that's a February chat (February, as in Valle and the rest of us were celebrating Thanksgiving three months before). Valle was busted in October for allegedly plotting to kidnap, cook, and kill women and allegedly chatted online about oven sizes and slow-roasting women. Needless to say, the judge was grossed out as much as you are right now. "The evidence was enough for Judge Paul Gardephe to deny bail — forcing Valle, who worked in the 26th Precinct in Harlem, to settle for a cheap jailhouse turkey dinner," report the New York Daily News's Robert Gearty and Joe Kemp.
