TMZ has an email from Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo, to his alleged underaged lover. And it's the type of stuff that makes you feel icky and itchy—which is probably why everyone else would just rather crack jokes. "I'm sorry that I keep talking about sex with you, its driving me insane," reads the email exchange TMZ obtained between Clash and his accuser, which TMZ says was "sent well after the accuser turned 18." Blegh. You can head over there if you want to read the rest of it.

Since both parties were adults, the emails aren't really that scandalous. And as a piece of evidence—they confirm that Clash had some kind of relationship with his accuser when his accuser turned 18, which Clash came clean to TMZ on yesterday. It neither confirms or denies the very serious allegation that Clash began having sexual relations with his accuser while he was 16. And it's unclear if these emails are the activity that got Clash into disciplinary trouble at Sesame StreetSesame's statement yesterday read "Although this was a personal relationship unrelated to the workplace, our investigation did reveal that Kevin exercised poor judgment and violated company policy regarding internet usage and he was disciplined."

What the emails do confirm is what was proven in this Petraeus scandal: that emails between people engaged in adult relationships are often totally, utterly embarrassing. And well, that when faced with the craziness that are these scandals, you can't help but laugh:

It's better than talking about the Fiscal Cliff, right?
