Before everyone got up for work this morning, Lindsay Lohan went to jail. The Liz & Dick star was arrested for allegedly punching a woman in the face at a night club. "We're told Lindsay is still at the police station getting booked for third degree misdemeanor assault, and she's 'visibly tired,'" reported TMZ at 7 a.m.

TMZ is sort of the expert on the various stages of Lohan's fatigued appearance. To be honest, though, we'd be looking "visibly tired" too if we were out partying on a school night, got arrested at 4 a.m. and then booked three hours later. "Law enforcement tells us prior to the fight words were exchanged between Lindsay and the woman as they sat in separate booths near each other," reads TMZ's account. "Lindsay said something to the effect of, 'Give me my space.' Some time passed and then, for some reason, Lindsay allegedly punched the girl in the left side of her face," they added.

Lohan and the police have had a tenuous relationship in the past few months. She was arrested in September allegedly hitting a pedestrian outside a different New York nightclub, then last month she had that odd run-in with a congressional aide in which she claimed assault but didn't press charges, and also in October police responded to a domestic disturbance call that turned out to be a fight between Lindsay and her mother Dina which started at another New York nightclub. MTV and TMZ are both reporting that Lohan will be issued a "desk appearance ticket," which means she'll be facing a judge at a later date.
