Public schools in the neighboring towns of Ridgefield, Redding, and Easton, Connecticut, are on lockdown after a resident reported seeing a man possibly carrying a rifle near the Branchville School in Ridgefield Monday morning. Police are searching the area, but no threats have been made and no one has been found with that description yet. (Police say one person was stopped and interviewed, but then released.) Ridgefield is about 20 miles from Newtown, where Friday's shooting took place. 

As the search was happening, local police in Newtown were giving a press conference to update the media on the investigation and stated that any threats or attempts to interfere in the investigation would be taken seriously and possibly lead to prosecution. A student at nearby Bristol Central High School was arrested and charged for making threatening comments over the weekend and a memorial service at a local church was briefly evacuated on Sunday night after an apparent threat was made. Newtown's schools had already been closed Monday as officials and teachers dealt with how to readjust themselves and students following the shooting.

Update: As of 11:30, all the lockdowns have been lifted. No one was arrested.
