Newark superhero mayor (and tweeter) Cory Booker has a solid track record of intervening in crisis situations, but he proved last night that, with a little help from social media, he's not above looking out for the little non-people either. Booker came to the rescue of a dog that was left outside in the cold Thursday night, personally loading the freezing animal into a police car and then scolding the owners on the local news.

It was actually the local ABC station that alerted Booker to the pooch, when reporter Toni Yates tweeted at Booker that she saw the dog shivering on the front porch of its house. The tweets sailed across the Internet until they landed on Booker's virtual doorstep. He immediately rolled down to the scene, bringing a few cop cars in tow:

The police eventually tracked down the owner, who said he didn't know how the dog got outside but would fix the situation. It's a nice story of a community banding together to help the helpless, but for the possible future Senator from New Jersey—who has personally shoveled snow in blizzards, delivered groceries to stranded city residents, and carried old ladies from burning buildings—it was just another day on the job, apparently.

And the poor animal's was not the only life Booker saved last night. The stranded dog had just given birth to puppies, and is still nursing them. You may now "awwwww."
