One of the biggest stories of Inauguration Day for the fashion-inclined has already broken, and it at once peculiar and familiar. As the president and his family arrived at St. John's Episcopal Church this morning, Michelle Obama emerged in a Thom Browne coat and dress, according to the White House pool report, which also had this detail: "The fabric was developed based on the style of a man's silk tie." The First Lady donned Browne during the campaign last year, wearing the same design both to the final debate and the Democratic National Convention. Clearly, she's interested in themes, noted Eric Wilson of The New York Times:

Here's a look at the full look from the AP:

Per the pool report, FLOTUS's shoes and belt are by J. Crew, the brand that got a notable seat at the inauguration four years ago, and she's wearing a necklace by Cathy Waterman and a cardigan by Reed Krakoff, who also designed her boots. Malia Obama's entire ensemble, including her bright pink coat, is also by J.Crew, while Sasha's coat and dress are from Kate Spade:

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is definitely wearing sunglasses:

Update: Take a look at the dress underneath in this GIF:
