After 174 days, a bone marrow transplant, and a fight against a life-threatening illness, Robin Roberts finally made her return to Good Morning America this morning, capping one of the most inspirational and emotional comeback stories of the past two years. She looks great, and we're glad to have her and her smile back on our television screens. It's been a long road for Roberts who, in June, announced she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS, which was reportedly a complication from breast cancer treatments she received in 2007. She had left the show on August 30 to receive a bone marrow transplant and undergo chemotherapy. In mid-January, Roberts had announced she was doing "dry runs" of the show to see how her endurance and body would hold up.

It appears that the GMA staff is also taking precautions to help keep Robin healthy. The New York Times's Brian Stelter reports that they're making a concerted effort with "elbow bumps instead of hugs and kisses" and the "ample use of the hand sanitizer dispensers around the studio" to avoid the spread of illness since Roberts's immune system is still fragile. 

Roberts, as the FLOTUS mentioned, will be interviewing Michelle Obama in the next couple of days and that interview will be shown next Tuesday.
