The Rachel Maddow Show

Rachel Maddow has hosted her own program on MSNBC since 2008, as well as a radio show on Air America since 2004. More information

Proving that partisan late-night television pundits can be successful without being angry, Maddow is an alternative to the incandescent fury of another leading MSNBC liberal, Keith Olbermann. Maddow's smile and constant civility—even when interviewing ideological opponents—has flustered guests accustomed to greater heat but less persistence.

A self-described "national-security liberal" with a background in AIDS activism and prison reform, Maddow has never worked in politics. She spent her pre-Air America at local radio stations in Massachusetts. Celebrated in some circles for her unapologetic geekiness and forthrightness about her sexuality, she was the first openly gay American to win a Rhodes scholarship.

Obama: War President

Afghanistan poses no threat to us, and yet, our war there is being doubled and tripled in size. Why? It's because we think there might be a threat from Afghanistan in the future, if a safe haven for terrorism there re-emerges in the future.

Sarah Palin's Influence

Nicole Wallace vs. Sarah Palin

It is remarkable to have Sen. McCain himself get involved personally in shooting down Palin's claims in her new book, particularly because McCain reportedly advised his staffers and aides to be as low key as possible in defending themselves against Palin's accusations.

This is an amazing and not at all complicated tale of Mr. Armey getting paid lots of money to support certain issues and lots of money to oppose those very same issues at the very same time.
