Hannity

Sean Hannity is the host of a Fox News show and a syndicated radio talk show. More information

With the confidence and bluster that are applauded on cable television (his trademark gesture is a double-barreled finger-wag, usually directed at a guest who disagrees with him), Hannity is a patriotic conservative. His consistent support of President George W. Bush provided a relatively friendly place in the media landscape for the administration's top figures, with Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and others appearing for exclusive interviews at crucial moments. Hannity positions himself as a warrior against the dangers of liberalism, as evidenced by the titles of his books, Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty Over Liberalism and Deliver Us From Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism.

One of his rare deviations from social-conservative orthodoxy is his dissident Catholicism. Though raised Catholic, Hannity, the father of two, admits to using contraception and has said he would convert to Southern Baptism were the Vatican to excommunicate him.

Sen. Ben Nelson's Pizza Problem

Well, there may be no consequences in D.C., but it's good to see that the good folks in the Midwest know how to hold their representatives accountable.

Stunning Stimulus Numbers

The White House is now claiming that the stimulus has saved or created between 1.5 and two million jobs. I'm not sure how they came up with that number, given that the U.S. economy actually lost four million jobs last year.

Obama's New Pen Pal

I can only imagine that the president's dialogue with Mr. Kim will be just as fruitful as his exchanges with the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Breaking the Gitmo Promise

Things in Washington move slowly? Who knew? Now given his experience with health care and now Gitmo, this president might want to shy away from setting those firm deadlines. They don't seem to be working out too well for him.

Scozzafava's Defection Uproar

News flash! Scozzafava dropped out of the race because nobody wanted to vote for her. That has nothing to do with GOP extremism--everything to do with the people's preferences...that's what elections are all about.
