James O'Keefe, the self-described "progressive radical" who engineered a sting against ACORN last year
has been arrested
by the FBI. According to officials he "willfully and maliciously
" attempted to tamper with Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu's office telephone. O'Keefe was widely celebrated
in conservative media outlets for his undercover work at ACORN but now right-wing bloggers are lining up against the filmmaker:
- Michelle Malkin: "Let it be a lesson to aspiring young conservatives interested in investigative journalism:Know your limits. Know the law. Don't get carried away. And don't become what you are targeting."
- Ed Morrissey: Journalists don't tap phones, and if that's what he tried, he's an idiot.
- Rick Moran:
"It appears to me that all of this notoriety went to the kid's head and
he began to see himself as some kind of avenging angel for the
right...But this guy is no journalist - conservative or otherwise. He's
a glory hound."
