Though her aides later downplayed the remark saying it was a "quip" not a "jab," political blogs smell blood in the water:
- An Intentional Jab, report Patrick O'Connor and Glenn Thrush at Politico, who spoke with Democratic aides on condition of anonymity: "It was no accident... Pelosi was pointedly referring to Obama’s ’08 pledge not to raise taxes on the middle class, which she interprets to include a tax on so-called Cadillac health care plans that offer lavish benefit packages to many union members...Pelosi has been miffed."
- Bravo, Nancy, writes "Good to know that we're not the only ones who have noticed all the broken promises."
- She's Doing Obama a Favor, writes Roger Simon at conservative blog Pajamas Media: "Is this bad for Obama? I think not. It may be one of of the few good things to have happened to him in the last year. If there’s anyone more disdained than Barack Obama at this moment, it’s Nancy Pelosi, who is closed to the least liked American citizen?"
