Will Bill O'Reilly Applaud Obama's Spending Freeze?

John Hudson Jan 26, 2010
As liberals slam Obama for his spending freeze, the president may find cover from his near-constant critic, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly. The conservative pundit prides himself in giving Obama a fair shake. When he gave the president a report card in December, he stressed:

It is important to be fair to Barack Obama, because if you hate him then legitimate criticism is brushed aside. The man has done some things correct.

And last night, he reiterated, "I am not an Obama basher...I'm a registered Independent... I believe the president could be a very effective leader." Now the truculent prime-time host is faced with addressing an Obama policy change that neatly matches his own ideological predilections: a three-year spending freeze on most domestic programs not including security or defense. Will Papa Bear tip his hat to the commander-in-chief?
