Right-Wing Blogs Shrug Off CIA Terror Warning

John Hudson Feb 3, 2010
On Tuesday, the nation's top intelligence officials said an attempted terrorist attack on American soil  to six months was 'certain.' The unsettling revelation came when Sen. Dianne Feinstein asked officials, "What is the likelihood of another terrorist-attempted attack on the U.S. homeland in the next three to six months? High or low?"

"An attempted attack, the priority is certain, I would say," replied Dennis C. Blair, the director of National Intelligence. CIA Director Leon Panetta agreed. He said al Qaeda was recruiting "clean" operatives to conduct an attack on the U.S.

Have hawkish national security pundits begun sounding the alarms? Not really. A number of conservative bloggers who consider the war on terror a noble battle are nonplussed.

Rusty Shackleford at The Jawa Report says it's a non-story:
I'm not sure if a single thing said by Panetta actually qualifies as news. 1) We've known al Qaeda wants to attack us since well before 9/11. 2) We've known they try to recruit people who can more easiy get into the country. 3) We've known for years that al Qaeda has been attempting to "incite the believers" to individual acts of jihad.
Pat Austin at Shreveport also isn't frazzled and throws in a barb:
While the report from top intelligence officials that a new terrorist attack is imminent is frightening, I don't think it's surprising... What really scares me, though, is who is in charge. The entire National Security front leaves me feeling a little insecure.
