Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman is refusing to meet with President Obama when Obama visits the city on Thursday. Goodman expressed outrage over Obama's earlier comment, "You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. It's time your government did the same."  The president was making a broader point about financial responsibility, but Goodman is taking it personally.

"We are hurting, we have people in foreclosures, we have people having a hard time feeding their families and we can't stand to have a flippant statement made," he told reporters. "I've got other things to do quite frankly for my constituents here in Las Vegas who rely on me to do the right thing as a mayor." Much of the Las Vegas economy is based on American tourists. If they take Obama's advice literally, it would be a massive blow to Goodman's city.

Obama, whose visit is geared around Nevadan Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's reelection campaign, may find his room service to be less than prompt if Goodman reflects broader sentiment.
