Morning Vid: Rahm Emanuel Would 'Like to Run for Mayor' of Chicago

The subject of several gushing profiles in the past month, Rahm Emanuel has garnered more than his share of media attention in his time as the White House Chief of Staff. In his latest public appearance, Emanuel announced his long-term political goal: mayor of Chicago.

In an interview with PBS's Charlie Rose, Emanuel touched on several hot-button topics, from the SEC suing Goldman Sachs ("everybody at the White House found out like everybody else, when it hit the news") to a Senate vote on financial reform ("Yes. I think it will be bipartisan.") When the conversation turned to his life after the White House, Emanuel confirmed speculation that he wants to return to the Windy City.

I hope Mayor Daley seeks reelection. I will work and support him if he seeks reelection. But if Mayor Daley doesn't, one day I would like to run for mayor of the City of Chicago. That's always been an aspiration of mine even when I was in the House of Representatives.
