Talking Heads vs. Charlie Crist

Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne is suing Florida Gov. Charlie Crist for copyright infringement and false endorsement. Crist allegedly used the Talking Heads 1985 single Road to Nowhere for an attack ad against Marco Rubio. When Byrne saw the ad he was "pretty upset" and now wants $1 million from the Republican governor. He told Billboard:
In my opinion the damage had already been done by it being out there. People that I knew had seen (the ad), so it had gotten around ... [The suit] is not about politics ... It's about copyright and about the fact that it does imply that I would have licensed it and endorsed him and whatever he stands for.
This seems to be a lesson that's hard for the GOP to learn. Less than a year ago, Jackson Browne successfully sued John McCain for illegally using Running on Empty during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, what happened to Byrne? In such elegant words, he always told us "Don't Worry About the Government." His 1977 lyrics reveal a happier, more civic friendly artist:
I see the states, across this big nation
I see the laws made in Washington, D.C.
I think of the ones I consider my favorites
I think of the people that are working for me

Some civil servants are just like my loved ones
They work so hard and they try to be strong
