John McCain and Snooki: Don't Tax Tans!

As Politics Daily's Patricia Murphy points out, there's something odd about John McCain getting into a Twitter conversation with reality TV show Jersey Shore's Snooki, the nickname for Nicole Polizzi. Snooki told an MTV camera crew Obama's 10 percent tanning salon tax had cut short her tanning sessions. Now she gets a spray tan.

Apparently someone in Senator McCain's office thought this quite the PR opportunity. The senator not only responded to the high-profile complaint, but took pains to anthropologically modify his response so as to be comprehensible to the younger generation. His medium: Twitter. His language: textese.
