Bikini-Clad Strippers Protest Church in Ohio

Max Fisher 304 Views Aug 9, 2010

Things are heating up in the town of Warsaw, Ohio, population 781, as a feud between the local church and the local strip club intensifies. It began with the New Beginnings Ministries church, the members of which have long protested the Foxhole strip club. Now Foxhole's owner and its dancers are protesting the church. The protests, which seem to consist of Foxhole dancers dressing up in bikinis and sitting in lawn chairs on the church lawn, will probably end up helping the New Beginnings Ministries more than they hurt it. The Associated Press reports:

Owner Tommy George of the Foxhole club in nearby Newcastle says he and his employees decided to start coming to the church because they were fed up. George says for four years church Pastor Bill Dunfee and his congregation have bothered the club's weekend patrons armed with bullhorns, signs, and video cameras for posting customers' license plate numbers online.

Dunfee calls George a ''parasite'' and says seeing the protesters outside the church has strengthened the resolve of his flock.

The New Republic's Jonathan Chait, a passionate blogger on all things Ohio, has not yet weighed in on these protests.
