Lady Gaga Slams Arizona Boycotters

Erik Hayden 172 Views Aug 3, 2010
Lady Gaga is the latest multi-platinum artist to voice strong opposition to Arizona's controversial immigration law. But perhaps more interesting than her denouncement of the legislation was her surprising indictment of her fellow, unnamed, "big rock and rollers, big pop stars, big rappers" who planned on canceling their live events in the state in order to make an economic statement (that effort appears to be headed up by the unlikely tandem of Conor Oberst and Rage Against the Machine).

In a Phoenix concert, Gaga justified her own position, which was this:
‘You really think that us dumb f–king pop stars are going to collapse the economy of Arizona?’ I’ll tell you what we have to do about SB1070. We have to be active. We have to actively protest. And the nature of the Monster Ball is to actively protest prejudice and injustice and that bulls–t that is put on our society."
