Responding to a new Pew Research poll that shows 31% of Republicans believe Barack Obama is a Muslim, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell said yesterday on "Meet The Press" that he "takes the president at his word" about his Christian faith. "The president says he's a--the president says he's a Christian, I take him at his word. I don't think that's in dispute." Depending on ones perspective, the transcript of McConnell's statement can be read as either a clear repudiation of more extreme voices or a slight hedge from one of the standard-bearers of the GOP establishment.
