Strange Bedfellows

Colbert Will Testify to Congress in Character

Erik Hayden 665 Views Sep 23, 2010

The line between Stephen Colbert's role as a faux-conservative host and actual opinion-maker has blurred considerably over the past week. Not only has he been promoting his joint (or is it competing?) mock-political rally with Jon Stewart a few days before the November election. He will also reportedly testify before Congress this Friday.

According to a CNN report and Daily Caller sources, Stephen Colbert will testify before the House Judiciary committee while staying "in character." It's not clear how Colbert's schtick will go over with committee members, but he will appear alongside United Farm Workers President Arturo S. Rodriguez (who the host interviewed in July, see below) for the hearing titled "Protecting America's Harvest."
