Happy Hour Vid: Mr. President, 'I'm Exhausted of Defending You'

Erik Hayden Sep 20, 2010

When impassioned voters call out politicians during town hall meetings, things can get ugly. The questioner often comes off looking worse—or at least more unhinged—while the politician struggles to maintain a dignified appearance. This isn't one of those videos. In a town hall meeting televised by CNBC, an unnamed woman who is a self-described "chief financial officer for a veterans service organization," respectfully took the president to task saying:

"I'm one of your middle class Americans. And quite frankly, I'm exhausted. Exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the mantle of change that I voted for, and deeply disappointed with where we are right now." She pulled few punches and Obama, for his part, could only make clear that he, "understands your frustration" before laying out why he believes his administration has made life a little more manageable for the middle class.
