Al Franken: Alligators Nearly Destroyed U.S. Economy

Ray Gustini 12 Views Oct 28, 2010
President Obama is fond (very fond) of likening the economy at the time he took office to a car in a ditch. Like others, we've questioned Obama's confidence in this particular metaphor, but that was before we heard Minnesota Senator Al Franken describe the nature of the ditch in more detail. Apparently there were alligators in it. Economy-eating alligators.

(Also, it wasn't a ditch, it was a cliff, or possibly a pit of some kind. And George W. Bush was less helpful than the guy in the first scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark. So when he hit the alligator-infested waters, you should be grateful Obama had noted big-game hunter Timothy Geithner heading the Treasury.)
