The Time a Reporter Ended Up in the Sights of a Lawmaker's Gun
It's starting to look like New Jersey politicians can't take a joke. First Newark Mayor Cory Booker "banned" Conan O'Brien from flying at Newark Liberty International Airport after the former Tonight Show host mocked the city's new health-care plan ("[It's] a bus ticket out of Newark"). Now Governor Chris Christie is waging Twitter war on Jimmy Fallon for having the temerity to suggest people only visit the Garden State "by accident." (Untrue: they also visit while driving someplace else.) Christie wasn't amused by the implication, and basically dared the Late Night host to come to Jersey and be Jimmy Fallon to his face. A full account of their exchange:
@jimmyfallon Heard your joke about NJ last night. Why dont u come across the river on purpose and I'll give u a tour http://bit.ly/cPS9KH
@jimmyfallon Consider this is a formal invite. By the way – nice attempt at Born to Run but Bruce does it better. http://bit.ly/cRRvbk
.@GovChristie Maybe so. But have you heard Jon Corzine's version of Thunder Road? It pretty much kicks ass.
.@GovChristie We all love NJ here! I'm talkin' White House subs, I'm talkin' Borgata, and Bayonne Golf Club is the best in the world!
Glad to hear you have love for #NJ. And let me know if you ever want to go toe-to-toe on Bruce trivia. Always up for the challenge
